Premiere of “Polarissimae: Mysteries of the Pole Star” for the 5th Anniversary of Planetarium Noosphere
11 November
The Planetarium has been operating in the very heart of Dnipro since 1968. It is a place where several generations of city residents and visitors have dreamed of stars and space. However, a complete transformation began in 2018, and after a full overhaul, this legendary space was given new life.
In 2020, a new era began with the launch of Planetarium Noosphere, Ukraine’s first private planetarium with a social mission. Here, science becomes inspiration, education turns into adventure, and space becomes accessible to everyone. Over the past five years, Planetarium Noosphere has grown into a true center of science, culture, and social engagement.

Premiere for the Anniversary: “Polarissimae: Mysteries of the Pole Star”
To celebrate the 5th anniversary of Planetarium Noosphere, a new in-house animated fulldome film, “Polarissimae: Mysteries of the Pole Star”, premiered. Audiences are invited to join the exciting adventure with the curious boy Max, who seeks to uncover the mysteries of the most famous star — the Pole Star.
Together with Max, visitors will embark on an incredible journey through space and time to explore the snows of Antarctica, the polar ice caps of Mars, distant Uranus, and spectacular twists of time leading into the past — back to the era of pyramids, mammoths, and dinosaurs, when constellations looked completely different.
The film reveals whether the Pole Star has always shone over the North Pole, which pole stars shine on other planets, and whether it is possible to see the Pole Star from the South Pole. It is a story about the power of imagination and dreams, which lead us like a guiding star from stargazing to the launch of a spacecraft.

Innovations for Visitors: Exploring Space Step by Step
Five years of development at Planetarium Noosphere include over 10 major exhibition updates. Among the highlights are the VR zone, themed Mars and Moon zones, and the “Ukraine in Space” area, showcasing Ukrainian astronauts, Ukraine’s space achievements, and the history of our discoveries.
Interactive simulators, updated exhibits, and gamification make visiting Planetarium Noosphere an exciting journey for both children and adults. Visitors can experience gravity on different celestial bodies, create their own planet using a terraforming sandbox, and immerse themselves in a 4K fulldome film experience.

Fulldome Films: Ukraine on the International Stage
In 2022, Planetarium Noosphere established its in-house video production studio, which creates fulldome films and animations, as well as content for musical and themed programs. Over the past five years, the studio has released 10 fulldome films and animations offering a fresh perspective on the Universe:
- “Stellar Nurseries: From Atoms to Life”
- “Landscapes of the Universe Through the Hubble Telescope”
- “Space Cruise”
- “Space Weekend: In Search of a New Home”
- “Beyond the Sky: The Great Space Clean-up”
- “Our Space Address”
- “Ukrainian Space”
- “Stars: Looking into the Infinity”
- “After the Guiding Star”
- “Polarissimae: Mysteries of the Pole Star”
It is important to note that Planetarium Noosphere joined the International Planetarium Society (IPS) and became Ukraine’s sole representative in the anniversary edition “100 Years of Planetaria,” celebrating a century of planetariums worldwide. This confirms the high level of innovation, educational programs, and fulldome content we create, recognizing Planetarium Noosphere among the world’s leading planetariums.
Social Initiatives: Science for Everyone
Planetarium Noosphere actively develops the social component of its work. Over the past five years, nearly 800 social sessions have been held for schoolchildren, internally displaced persons, and people with disabilities, reaching more than 50,000 visitors.
Of particular note is the unique space retreat program for internally displaced persons. This program helps reduce psycho-emotional stress, awaken emotional and cognitive resources, and restore mental health through an interactive experience combining astronomy, art, and sensory interaction. The program has attracted international interest and was presented at the IPS 2024 Conference in Berlin, Germany.
Planetarium Noosphere also represents Ukraine and Dnipro on the international stage. At the “Dnipro Days in Cologne” festival, Planetarium Noosphere presented an interactive exhibition “Cosmic Dnipro”, where guests could play the engaging digital game “Ukrainian Space” and watch the fulldome film “Ukrainian Space”.

Looking Ahead: New Horizons
Over the past five years, Planetarium Noosphere has become a center of science, culture, and social responsibility. It is a place where knowledge transforms into inspiration, and space becomes an accessible resource for growth and development. Even more innovations, discoveries, and opportunities lie ahead for children, adults, and all of Ukraine.
Planetarium Noosphere is proof that science, culture, and social responsibility come together as a powerful tool for change, inspiration, and international recognition.
