Planetarium Noosphere Hosts Award Ceremony for “ScienceQueen_UA” Participants

02 April
On April 2, Planetarium Noosphere hosted an award ceremony for the participants of the online marathon “ScienceQueen_UA” — an initiative that brought together girls around science, creativity, and inspiration.

The marathon ran from February 11 to March 8, 2026, as part of the STEM Discovery Campaign and was dedicated to the International Day of Women and Girls in Science. It was organized by the Municipal Higher Education Institution “Dnipro Academy of Continuing Education” in partnership with several organizations, including Planetarium Noosphere.

About the marathon

The project aimed to recognize women’s contributions to science, promote scientific achievements, and support girls on their path toward scientific careers.
Participants created works in various formats: photo sessions portraying famous women scientists, videos reenacting their stories, and essays dedicated to their contributions to science.
In total, 251 works were submitted, with 241 girls from different regions of Ukraine taking part.
Among the most popular figures portrayed were Marie Skłodowska-Curie, Rosalind Franklin, Hedy Lamarr, and Maryna Viazovska.

Award ceremony

Planetarium Noosphere served as the venue where the marathon results were summarized and the most active and creative participants were awarded prizes and certificates.
The event brought together participants, their teachers and mentors, and the project organizers. In addition to receiving awards, guests had the opportunity to visit Planetarium Noosphere and explore modern approaches to science communication.

Significance of the initiative

“ScienceQueen_UA” is an important educational project that fosters interest in science among young people and highlights the role of women in the development of scientific thought.
Supporting such initiatives is part of Planetarium Noosphere’s mission to broaden horizons and inspire a new generation of researchers.
