“Cosmogony of Crimea” at Planetarium Noosphere: A New Stage of the Cultural Project “QIRIM” by Serhii Burbelo
01 October
From October 1 to November 1, 2025, Planetarium Noosphere is hosting the art exhibition “Cosmogony of Crimea” by Serhii Burbelo – member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine, architect, art manager, volunteer, and serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

“Cosmogony of Crimea” is part of the large-scale cultural project “QIRIM”, dedicated to the history and culture of Crimea. Since its inception in 2013, the project has continuously evolved, incorporating new artworks and meanings, particularly in response to the occupation of Crimea in 2014 and the ongoing full-scale military aggression.

Over the years, “QIRIM” has been exhibited at leading art museums in Ukraine – in Kyiv, Dnipro, Lviv, and Kropyvnytskyi – and abroad, including the Consulate General of Ukraine in Hamburg (2022), the Thuringian State Parliament in Erfurt (2024), the Weserpark Gallery in Bremen (2024), and the HOF Gallery in Lilienthal (2025).

The uniqueness of the exhibition “Cosmogony of Crimea” lies in its paintings with integrated texts of Crimean Tatar folk songs, continuing the series of 40 earlier works. It is a cycle of night landscapes based on sketches created during numerous expeditions. Crimea is depicted through monumental images of ancient landmarks – fortresses, mosques, madrasas, türbes, and cave monasteries – as well as the grandeur of its natural scenery: mountains, steep cliffs, valleys, and the Syvash lagoon. The authentic names of these places echo through the centuries in the titles of the paintings.

The exhibition aims to draw attention to the history of the Crimean Tatars, the preservation of their tangible and intangible cultural heritage, the occupation of Crimea, and the parallels between the tragic events of the past (the 1944 deportation of Crimean Tatars) and the present.

The choice of Planetarium Noosphere as the venue for this exhibition is deeply symbolic, as the contemplation of the starry sky evokes reflections on history and culture that have shaped the diversity of traditional perceptions of the starry sky and cosmogony. This resonates with the philosophy of the project “QIRIM”, reinforcing its themes of memory, cultural identity, the fragility of cultural heritage, the parallels between past and present, and the struggle for freedom.
The exhibition runs from October 1 to November 1, 2025, at Planetarium Noosphere (10 Krutohirnyi Uzviz St., Dnipro). Entry to the exhibition is included in the ticket price.
